Boring Methods

Advantages of Boring Methods

Trenchless technologies have come a long way,
but auger boring is still a tried and true method of utility installation.

Dry method of installation – does not generate slurry

Unaffected by surface obstacles

Quick and many cases lower cost

Minimal impact to the environment

Auger Boring is a method used to install pipe which is supported by the ground during the bore.
– Capable of installing 12”-72” diameter pipe
– Drill lengths up to 400 LF
– Install through soft ground, clay and rock conditions

Guided Boring uses technology to pull the pipeline through with precision and can alter the drill path at any state during the bore.
– Capable of installing 12”-72” diameter pipe
– Drill lengths up to 400 LF
– Install through soft ground, clay and rock conditions

Tunneling is used to create a passageway under railroads, highways, and roads and can be done in any type of soil condition.
– Capable of installing any length of 45”-120” diameter pipe
– Install through soft ground, clay and rock conditions
– Experience with steel casing, liner plate, and rib and lagging

Pipe Ramming is a trenchless method using a hammerhead to send steel casing under railroads and other structures.
– Capable of installing 24”-72” diameter pipe
– Drill lengths up to 300 LF
– Install through all ground conditions
– Utilizes Akkerman GBM system to ensure line and grade pipe ramming
